Batch Calculator is free to use and will stay free. Running it costs money, so it is paid for in three ways: printable worksheets, affiliate links, and — later — display advertising. This page says exactly how each one works.
Affiliate links
We are building affiliate relationships with retailers and craft suppliers. Where a product link earns us a commission, it is marked — “Sponsored”, “Affiliate” or “(paid link)” — and carries a rel="sponsored" attribute so search engines can see it for what it is. If a link is not marked, we are not being paid for it.
When you buy through one of these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We never receive your name, your address, or a list of what you bought — only aggregate commission reports. See the Privacy Policy for what that means for your data.
Printables
The worksheets and batch logs in the shop are paid products. They are sold and delivered by third-party marketplaces such as Etsy and Gumroad, which handle payment and download. We earn the sale price less that marketplace’s fees.
Some pages offer a free printable in exchange for an email address, and — if you tick the box — add you to a mailing list for that craft. That list exists to tell you about new calculators and new printables, some of which are paid. It is always optional, never required to use a calculator, and every email carries an unsubscribe link. What we collect and how long we keep it is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Display advertising
There is no display advertising on the site today. If that changes, ad slots will be visually distinct from the content around them, and they will never be placed above a calculator’s result.
What money does not buy
Placement is not for sale. No number changes because of a commercial relationship — every figure on this site is computed from the same reference database regardless of who does or does not pay us, and a supplier cannot buy a better fragrance load or a friendlier saponification value.
If a product is recommended, it is because we think it is the right tool for the job. If we have not used it, we say so.
