A water-based mist sized to your bottle, with the solubiliser quoted against the fragrance it has to hold — and a preservative the tool will not let you leave out.

A body mist contains water, so it MUST carry a broad-spectrum preservative. Bacteria and mould grow in it within days, long before anything looks cloudy or smells wrong, and this is a product you spray on skin. There is no version of this that is optional, and no shelf life short enough to skip it. Vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract and rosemary extract are antioxidants, not preservatives. Combine the fragrance and solubiliser first and stir until clear, then add the preservative, then the water. Added to water separately, the fragrance disperses into droplets the solubiliser cannot fully catch and the bottle stays hazy however long you leave it. Sized by bottle volume, where a mist that is over 90% water is within a percent of 1 ml to 1 g — close enough to weigh against, and the reason everything here is stated in grams.

There is no version of this that is optional, and no shelf life short enough to skip it. The arithmetic itself is simple and quoted in two different shapes on purpose. Fragrance and preservative are percentages of the finished bottle. The solubiliser is a MULTIPLE of the fragrance weight, because it is holding a specific quantity of oil rather than filling a share of the bottle — quote it as a percentage and it stops tracking the thing it is doing the moment someone changes the fragrance load. Water is the remainder. Sizing is by bottle volume because that is what people own, and a mist that is over 90% water is within a percent of one millilitre to one gram, which is close enough to weigh against. Nothing here shares a constant with the alcohol dilution model, and none of the concentration bands apply.

Why does my body spray separate?

How long does homemade body mist last?
Several months, preserved, sanitised and made with distilled water. Unpreserved, it is unsafe within days regardless of how it looks. Date the bottle, keep it out of the sun, and make small batches rather than one large one.
